With over 27 years of butchery experience, Handy Ant has been operating as a homekill butcher in Rodney for over ten years. We are serious about making sure our customers receive top quality cuts, exactly how they like it, as well as exceptional service from our team. Our process offers a simple and easy way for you to organise the slaughter and butchering of your beasts, for the best results and value.
We raise calves ourselves and know the effort that goes into rearing animals (fencing, draining, hay making etc) and that’s why we want to offer the best possible processing service.
We believe in reducing as much stress as possible for the animals and that’s why we only provide on-farm slaughtering option. This means the animals stay in their familar surroundings and completely avoid being pushed from one place to another in the yards or being tightly packed for stressful truck journeys.
There’s something to say about homekill meat – it just tastes better.

The first step is a phone call to Handy Ant to book in your job. If the phone line isn’t answered please do leave a message and Anthony will return your call by the end of that day.
Once you are booked in, the team from Auckland Homekill will be in touch with you directly to set up a suitable time for them to come out and dispatch the beast (you will pay them directly for this).
We will hang the beast in the main chiller and on the 7th day will be touch with you to confirm cutting instructions.
All meat is cut and packaged in clingwrap and blast frozen, ready for pick up from our premises.
Let us know your preferred time to pick up and we will have everything ready. You can pay by cash or cheque on pick up.
